Here's what's inside this week's edition! 👇🏽
🍂 Couples Getaway Idea: Our 48-hour escape just 90 minutes from Baltimore.
🎉 Weekend Events: Fun things happening around Maryland and DC this weekend.
🏛️ Hidden Baltimore Gem: A museum I can't believe I didn't know existed!
💙 Free Autism & Developmental Screenings: An event I really want parents to know about.
Hey Locals! 👋🏽
This week I've got some fun things for you, including a couples getaway that's only 90 minutes from Baltimore, a hidden museum worth visiting, and plenty of events to get you out of the house this weekend.
But first, can we talk about last week!
100 PEOPLE showed up for Somewhere With Locals! 🎉
We had people dining at 10 different restaurants, but I think my favorite part was the after-party at Hampton Yards Beer Garden. Everyone was mingling, meeting new people, and having a good time. And let me tell you, I had one of the BEST ginger beer mocktails I've ever tasted!
Thank you to everyone who came out. This is exactly why I started Somewhere With Locals. We had people drive from Northern Virginia, Waldorf and even Philadelphia so it’s safe to say friendship is a priority nowadays.
We're in Bethesda tonight, and next month we're heading to Columbia and Alexandria. Hope to see you at one soon!

This One’s Personal So I Had To Share 💙
(Save the date or share with a family)
If you've ever had to get your child evaluated for autism or developmental delays, then you know how frustrating the process can be. Between the long waitlists before you can even get started, phone calls, trying to find the right resources, and then figuring out the whole IEP process, it can be A LOT!
I've been through this with someone in my family, and I wish I had known about events like this back then.

On Saturday, October 24, CHILL ACT is hosting a FREE event in Clarksville, MD (Howard County) where families can get autism and developmental prescreening, learn about therapy options, and get help navigating school and IEP services. All in one place, and you don't need insurance!
I know there are parents out there who have questions about their child's development but don't know where to start. This could be a great first step.
PLEASE share ↗️ this with a parent who might need it! You never know who is trying to figure all of this out behind the scenes.

We Spent 48 Hours Here and Already Want to Go Back! 🍂
Our couples getaway just 90 minutes from Baltimore.
Before the holiday craziness begins, Tony and I squeezed in a quick 48-hour trip to Lancaster, PA, and I had no idea there was this much to do just 90 minutes from Baltimore!
We did everything from riding through the countryside on an Amish farm to enjoying a scenic dinner train ride. And let's just say, we're already talking about going back!
If you're looking for a couples getaway that doesn't require a flight or a long drive, put this one on your list because we had a time and you will too!
Find your best itinerary in Lancaster here.

How Did I Not Know This Museum Existed?!
Perfect for days when school is out or with your grandkids!

I recently discovered the Maryland Center for History and Culture right in Baltimore, and of course I had to take the kids!
They have a new exhibit called WayFinders where kids can touch, explore, and learn about Maryland history using their senses. My kids loved being able to actually play inside a museum!
There are also three floors of Maryland history to explore, so there's something for adults too. I think this would be a great outing with the grandparents!
See what we discovered inside →here.
📌Tip: It does cost $12 for adults but with 3 floors of exhibits I think it’s worth it or you can come on the first Thursday of the month for free and they extend their hours until 8pm

Thanks for being one of the Locals. Send this to someone who needs to go out, they'll thank you later.
Hope to See You.…….Somewhere Local!
