July 9-12, 2026

Hey Locals! 👋🏽
Now that the holiday is over and DC had the most fireworks ever on July 5th, will we keep hearing it’s the 250th year?
Well, if you go to renew or get an emergency passport in DC, you will get a special 250th passport booklet with Trump on the first page. This marks the first time a living, current president has been featured on a US passport. See it here. It’s safe to say the 250th celebration isn’t over for us yet but we can still move forward.

Working Moms, This One's For You ❤️

I'll actually be speaking at this conference on "Fun Is a Form of Self-Care: Finding Joy in the Middle of It All," and if you're a working mom, I'd love to see you there.
It all takes place at a beautiful Boordy Vineyard, so think less stuffy conference and more a day to pour back into yourself while connecting with women who truly understand this season of life.
When was the last time you were in a room full of women who just got your life?
Women balancing careers, kids, bills, dreams, and trying to remember if everyone ate breakfast before rushing out the door.
That's exactly why I love what the Working Mom Conference is creating.
✨ Your day includes:
Inspiring speakers and practical takeaways
Conversations with women who truly understand your journey
Time to network, recharge, and invest in yourself
A gorgeous winery setting that makes it feel like a retreat instead of another obligation

💛 What I am reading this week.
📚 Fellowship of Grace: Recovery, Redemption, and the Twelve-Step Community by Bernard Roberson Shaw

I wanted to share something a little more personal this week.
My dad just published a book, and reading it has been eye-opening. I always knew the man who became a pastor and licensed addiction counselor, but I didn’t fully know the young man who grew up in Sandtown, Baltimore, or everything he had to overcome to get there.
In Fellowship of Grace, he shares how the church can learn from AA, how AA can learn from the church, and what faith, recovery, and real redemption can look like. Not in some counselor or pastor talk but from a person who has lived it and still fighting to stay on the right side of it all.
If you or someone you love is navigating addiction, recovery, or simply needs a reminder that your past does not have to be your ending, I think this is worth reading.
📖 Read it on Amazon →
It's an easy, relatable read, and I'm incredibly proud of him. ❤️

Thanks for being one of the Locals. Send this to someone who needs an ice cream, they'll thank you later.
Hope to See You.…….Somewhere Local!
