Last week was a whirlwind as there were so many Juneteenth events happening all over the land. The Obama center opening that same weekend was another huge experience and I can’t wait to get to Chicago one day and see it. AFRAM broke a record with over 200,000 attendees and although they had a few teen issues, everyone said it was amazing.
Here’s some quick news in case you hadn’t heard:
Dundalk Mall is closing It’s been open since 1956 but all tenants just got notice that it’s closing for good on August 31st.
Dash in is giving 25 cents off every gallon of gas and $2.50 food items all week

If I could only choose two events this weekend, I’d pick:
Sail 250 Maryland & Air Show in Baltimore, as they blue angles will be flying over, multiple ships down at the harbor for you to tour and fun family activities for all and its FREE
34th Annual Giant BBQ Battle in DC which cost $16 but kids 12 and under are free. There will be 100’s of food samples, vendors, bands and fun.
🏝️ It Feels Like the Caribbean... But It's Maryland
Rod N’ Reel Resort in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland
I honestly think this is one of Maryland's most overlooked resorts. Rod 'N' Reel sits just an hour from Baltimore and DC, but walking in felt like we had escaped to an island resort. Between the waterfront views, multiple restaurants, pools, casino, and beach concerts, it's an easy summer getaway without crossing the Bay Bridge.
I will honestly admit, this was one of our best hotel experiences in Maryland.
It’s newly renovated with over 100 rooms and room rates start at only $149 a night! Plus:

Rock the Dock is happening all summer long!
Imagine a waterfront concert next to sand on the dock…that’s what’s happening on Sunday’s at Rod n Reel Resort (Only 1 hour drive from Baltimore & DC areas). From Motown favorites, to Prince & Elvis Tributes…the dock is going to be rocking for sure. They have a full bar and lunch menu while watching the show.
Tip: Get a seat on the deck if you don’t want to sit in the full sun. Get a seat on the beach to feel sand on your toes.
